Heaven for the aftermarket junkies is the SEMA car show in the United States.

The Las Vegas event produced plenty of action again this year and is the world’s top automotive show when it comes to customising your ride.

More than 70,000 domestic and international buyers from every segment of the speciality equipment industry attend to discover more than 3000 new parts, tools and components from over 2400 exhibiting companies.

The SEMA Show represents the $41.2 billion automotive aftermarket, and is the only trade show that brings together every segment of the automotive industry, from hot rods and off-roads, to mobile electronics and collision repair.

If you can find it at SEMA, then it doesn’t exist . . . yet.

He has spent half of his career as a writer, editor and production editor in newspapers, the rest of the time driving and writing about cars both in print and online. His love affair with cars began as a teenager with the purchase of an old VW Beetle, followed by another Beetle and a string of other cars on which he has wasted too much time and money. A self-confessed geek, he’s not afraid to ask the hard questions - at the risk of sounding silly.
